World Breastfeeding Week 2019 | Smithville Mansion | Westampton, New Jersey

August 1st kicked of both World Breastfeeding Week and Breastfeeding Awareness Month. I'll spare you the rant on why this week (month) is so important, but instead I'd like to focus on the beautiful mothers that joined me to celebrate their own breastfeeding journeys. Listening to these #MamaBears chat with one another, my heart was full. In a world where community support is lacking, I saw these mothers bond over their experiences. All similar, a little different, absolutely unique, but somehow not unique all at the same time. A few themes seemed to register with everyone there: Breastfeeding can be a love-hate experience, and it can be the most difficult yet most rewarding journey. Women tend to learn so much about themselves after bearing children. Birth is a transformative experience in itself. Thrown in breastfeeding and you're in for one heck of a ride. I have met so many mothers who have found their strength and found their voice through their breastfeeding experiences. "Finding your strength" looks different for everyone, too. Whether you powered through for 2 weeks or 2 years, your breastfeeding experience was powerful and an important part of your journey of motherhood and life. I'd love to hear some #MamaBear stories about how you found your "roar" through breastfeeding! Telling your story is so important. This is how we support each other. #NurseOnMamaBear
